  10.  AB    OBJECTIVE: To define by flow cytometry reference ranges on the absolute
  11.        no. and relative percentage of total T-lymphocyte (CD3+), T-helper
  12.        (CD4+), T-suppressor (CD8+) in healthy Chinese. METHOD: A FACScan flow
  13.        cytometer, SimulSET software, and conjugate monoclonal reagents
  14.        (Simultest IMKPlus) were used to analyse 207 health adults (130 females,
  15.        77 males) aged between 20 and 71, and to study the possible effects of
  16.        sex and age. RESULTS: TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME. Further
  17.        analysis showed significant difference (P < 0.025) for sex, and positive
  18.        correlation with age for CD4+ percent. CONCLUSION: This set of data may
  19.        be useful for establishment of quality control criteria for flow
  20.        cytometry laboratories. Significant differences compared with Caucasian
  21.        population means that present regimens for prophylaxis and treatment
  22.        that are based solely on CD4+ counts may need to be modified when
  23.        applied to the Chinese population.
